The first step in making great tasting chocolate is sourcing fully fermented cacao beans. The beans that meet our high quality standard come from a variety of sources around the world. We then use old-world methods to make our chocolate.

We have learned that these steps result in a smoother, fuller, and more complete flavor in the mouth. Our chocolate is produced by expert chocolate makers in small batches to assure quality at every step...from bean to bar.

Testing for quality at ValrhonaInternationally famous with chefs the world over, Valrhona - originally known as La Chocolaterie de Vivarais - was founded by M. Guironnet, a pastry chef from the Rhône valley, in 1924.

valrhonalogo.jpgIn the early 1950s they took the name Valrhona (from ‘valley’ and ‘Rhône’) and became well known in the industry as a supplier of high quality raw chocolate to other producers and chocolatiers who would finish and package it in their own products.
